Pyramids

I stand so tall, way up to the bright blue sky! My body is made of huge, smooth stones, all stacked up high. I watch the sun play hide-and-seek with the golden sand every single day. Little people, like tiny ants, walk around my feet and look up at me with such big eyes. They wonder how I got so big! Long, long ago, a kind king named Khufu wanted a very special house for when he went to the sky. He asked so many people to help build me. They brought giant stones, bigger than mommy’s car, and carefully, carefully placed them one on top of another. It took a super long time, like many, many birthdays, to finish me. I was made to be a safe, special place for the king. Now, people from everywhere come to see me. They say, ‘Wow, you are so big and strong!’ They think about the people who built me and the king. I show everyone that when people work together with a big idea, they can build amazing things! I still stand strong, a special friend to the sky and the sand.
