Skunk

Hello. I am a skunk. My fur is very soft and it is black and white. I have a big, fluffy tail that I love to swish around. My stripes are like a special sign for all the other animals. They tell everyone who I am. I live in a warm and cozy den under the ground. It is my very own special home, and I dug it all by myself so I can be safe and snug.

I have a super stinky secret, but it is not a mean secret. I only use it when I get very scared. First, I try to be brave and give a warning. I stomp my little feet on the ground, tap, tap, tap. I even do a little warning dance to tell other animals, 'Please give me some space.' If that doesn't work and I still feel scared, I lift my big tail way up high. Then, I let out a super stinky spray. It is my special way to protect myself and stay safe. I don't do it to be rude.

My favorite time to explore is at night when the moon is shining bright. I use my nose to sniff for yummy snacks in the dark. I find crunchy bugs, wiggly worms, and sweet berries to eat. By eating all the little bugs and pests, I am a big helper. I help keep the gardens and forests healthy for all the plants. I am a helpful friend to the world.
